Global Malnutrition

I want to do my part to reduce world hunger and malnutrition. There is enough food in the world for people to eat, yet so many people are starving. I am a dietitian/nutritionist and am trying to make my way onto the field in the countries that maybe aren't so nice.

925 million people do not have enough to eat - more than the populations of USA, Canada and the European Union; (FAO news release, 14 September 2010)

98 percent of the world's hungry live in developing countries;(FAO news release, 2010) 65 percent  of the world's hungry live in only seven countries: India, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Ethiopia. (FAO news release, 2010)

10.9 million children under five die in developing countries each year. Malnutrition and hunger-related diseases cause 60 percent of the deaths; (The State of the World's Children, UNICEF, 2007)
